Time and time again I get asked the same question ... how can I automate drawings in Inventor.
After some basic training, users can generally scale, position and suppress views via iLogic however come unstuck when they start to try to annotate their drawings. A while back I put together a basic example of one of the methods we have used successfully at clients to get this done.
The video above demonstrates how to use a powerful tool called Attribute Helper. This add-on is still fully compatible with Autodesk Inventor 2018, and you can find detailed instructions, along with the download link, on Mod the Machine - Attribute Helper
Since creating this tutorial, I’ve explored additional methods for referencing edges and faces when adding dimensions in Inventor. While the Attribute Helper workflow is effective, it doesn’t always cover every scenario—for example, when you need to reference circular edges, cylindrical faces, or specific line elements.
If you find that Attribute Helper isn’t providing the flexibility you need, such as when detailing pattern members or working with complex geometry, feel free to reach out. I’d be happy to walk you through alternative solutions and best practices.
The construction industry is entering a new era, and Bluebeam is once again leading the way.
