In this episode of the Smarter Building podcast, our host Richard Brayshaw caught up with Robert (Kwasi) Kumapley, the Chief of Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) Program at The Port Authority of New York & New Jersey (PANYNJ), who is also notably a survivor of the 9/11 tragedy.

Gain insights from Robert as he delves into the extensive array of assets managed by PANYNJ, ranging from bridges to pumps and more. He sheds light on the definition of "asset" across various disciplines, distinguishes between Asset Management and Enterprise Asset Management, and explores the challenges and advantages of implementing an asset management strategy.
Tune in to discover the intricacies of efficient asset management and learn how PANYNJ's EAM strategy plays a crucial role in keeping the region moving, and how digital twins can contribute to this.
"If we can increase the useful life of our assets, then we don't have to replace them. Then we don't have to have new steel produce or concrete because those bridges will last longer. So the number of times you replace it in a lifecycle is going to be minimal. And I think that's a great contribution to sustainability and resilience as well."
