With an introduction to Autodesk Fusion 360, discover the future of making. Understand how the future of making is changing with radical changes in design and make.

Autodesk Fusion 360 is a fully loaded CAD, CAM and CAE application that can enable one single source as a true end-to-end solution.

This workshop will give you an overview of the innovation, productivity and simplified working processes available in Autodesk Fusion 360 including:

  • Modelling
  • Collaboration
  • Versions
  • Direct Editing
  • Inserting from McMaster-Carr
  • Simulation in the cloud
  • CNC Introduction
  • Rendering

On completion of this workshop, you will have an overall knowledge of how Autodesk Fusion 360 can improve design, engineering and manufacture.

The Lead with Generative Design workshop will give you an introduction to the core capabilities using “Generative Design” within Autodesk Fusion 360.

Expand your productivity and ability by using Generative Design to explore more design interactions with multiple concept restrictions, including manufacturability and validation.  Take products to market quicker by incorporating all the aspects of design and engineering into one application. See the results in real-time and choose the one that fits perfectly to your design criteria.

This workshop will walk you through various examples of how to start with Autodesk Generative Design technology including:

  • Preserve regions
  • Select Obstacles
  • Apply Constraints and Loads
  • Refine Mesh details
  • Choose manufacturing restrictions
  • Choose multiple materials to examine in one analysis
  • Read, analysis and converge your results

After completion of this workshop, you will understand the power of generative design. With complete knowledge of how to take a model through the generative design process including result verification.

This workshop will give you a full understanding of the importance of CAD/CAM. Autodesk Fusion 360 is a CAD, CAM and CAE application allowing users to experience the whole design, engineering and manufacturing processes in one application.

Gain confidence in creating manufacturing tool paths with a fully integrated CAD/CAM solution, including:

  • Overview of CAM
  • What is CNC machining?
  • Machining Processes
  • Types of Machines
  • CNC programming process

The Wining with Make workshop will take you through and full example of CAD/CAM including:

  • Setting preferences for CAD/CAM
  • Navigation of the Manufacture workspace
  • Creation of a 3D model in preparation of CAM
  • CAM setup’s including stock and origin
  • Understanding tool libraries
  • 2D facing, adaptive clearing and contours
  • 3D adaptive clearing
  • Drilling
  • Chamfering
  • Creating multiple setups
  • Creation of NC Code

On completion of this workshop, you will have the confidence to take a model through CAD to manufacture understand the fundamentals of 2D and 3D toolpaths, tool libraries and NC code

In this academic year, we decided to move from delivering AutoDesk AutoCAD to Fusion360. Initially, we were quite nervous to make the transition as none of our staff had experience using the software. Symetri got in contact with our college about training for Fusion360 in September. Symetri were able to offer us three individual training sessions (Introduction of Fusion360, CADCAM and Generative design) to all our staff. These training sessions with Cheryl from Symetri were invaluable and provided us all knowledge to be able to meet industry demands for future engineers. Fusion360 has completely changed our curriculum and in the next academic year we are pulling out all the stops to train all our Engineering students on Fusion360 because we can see that is the future for design and mechanical engineering. The CADCAM functionality of the software has been a major game-changer for us and has allowed us to show our students other ways to program and simulate their models on the software before taking it onto the machine. We work very closely with the industry and having the best software to deliver to our students is paramount. Symetri has continually provided us first-class service since our first conversation back in September, whether it is helping with training staff or software issues, they have been there for us all the way. I can't thank Cheryl, Craig and Symetri enough for their help this year.

“Sometimes there are those jobs that you put off for ages because there is always something more important… even if the “something” will make life better. Investigating how to implement Fusion 360 was like that for us. I’m so grateful to Symetri (Craig & Cheryl particularly) for being willing and able to spend the time listening to our situation and tailoring the support to that. They fitted in with us rather than us having to fit in with a rigid system: I’m so grateful. We knew about the possibilities of Fusion 360, but we were very unclear about how to implement it in our circumstances, teaching hundreds of engineering students per year. The patient and thoughtful support we received has unlocked a situation we could not see our way through. For our students Fusion 360 is on the way!”

The training course provided by Symetri was a fantastic introduction to Fusion 360 and its benefits as an all-encompassing CAD software package. Cheryl tailored the training to our use cases and went above and beyond to set up a workflow suitable for our machines. The comprehensive functionality and streamlined workflows will help the students throughout their design and manufacture and prepare them for the workplace.
