Cracks in the System
Cybersecurity threats don’t always kick the door down—sometimes, they slip in through the cracks. This month, we’re spotlighting three subtle but serious security risks that could be undermining your defences right now.
In the construction and architecture industry, access to accurate and editable building data is critical for efficient design, planning, and execution. Yet, many firms still face the challenge of working with static drawings or locked file formats that limit progress.
Bimify, partly owned by Addnode Group, is changing this. The AI-powered platform enables large-scale digitalisation of buildings, helping firms unlock valuable data, streamline workflows, and work more sustainably.
When British architectural practice Corstorphine & Wright inherited a project where the only available documentation was in PDF format, the team faced significant limitations. Without editable models, advancing the design and execution work would be both time-consuming and costly.
To overcome this, Corstorphine & Wright turned to Bimify. Using its AI-driven platform, static PDF drawings were automatically converted into highly detailed, information-rich BIM models.
To test the approach, the practice digitised three out of six buildings with Bimify, while manually converting the remaining three. The outcome was clear: the AI-powered method reduced time and costs by 40%, while also improving model accuracy and reliability. By automating labour-intensive tasks, architects could focus more on the creative and value-adding aspects of their work.
Beyond efficiency, Bimify’s solution supports a more sustainable construction process. With access to accurate and up-to-date building data throughout planning and implementation, firms can reduce material waste, avoid rework, and minimise resource consumption.
By streamlining the digitalisation of buildings, Bimify not only saves time and money but also contributes to a smarter, more environmentally responsible industry.
The potential of Bimify has also been highlighted by industry media. In a recent article, AEC Magazine explored the automation of 2D-to-3D workflows and referenced Bimify as a service that uses AI to convert 2D drawings and point clouds into native Revit or IFC BIM models, supporting firms in repurposing legacy building data for modern design and construction needs.
