BIM project support should be one of those areas that you don’t want to risk at handover or during the client audit stages. We have moved from BIM Level 2 to PA S1192 to BS EN ISO 19650 and now we need to consider the Golden Thread of information aligned to BS 8644-1. The Process – The starting point
Symetri usually starts with a review of the client’s requirements and in the tender response pulls together a formal document that is issued, this is known as the pre-appointment BIM Execution Plan (BEP). In this document it shows the client that we have understood what is being asked for and how the proposed project team will actually respond and deliver this. Sometimes we do question and liaise with the client as some of the requirements may need clarity or the client may not actually be aware of what they have asked for and the additional cost a specific requirement would demand on the project. During the tender response, Symetri would start to pull together a responsibility matrix and a risk register to assist the client in the understanding of the project requirements and how and what needs to be delivered.
The Process – After appointing Symetri
If after careful consideration you appoint Symetri, the team will develop the pre-appointment BEP to a Post-appointment BEP where further details and clarity is added to ensure all parties appointed know exactly what and how to deliver on this project. Regular audits will be performed so that guidance can be structured as the models and information begins to grow as we don’t want to address this at the end where a delay or payment hold could happen. These audits focus on the model structure and alignment to the standards, information data drops and toward the end of the project as constructed verification. All of this will depend on what the client has asked for and Symetri will match the required service to deliver and project the project team.
