As a result of the release of various fire safety measures that have been released recently in the UK eg Fire Safety Act, Building Safety Act & BS8644-1 Digital Management of Fire Safety Information Standard, it's clear that Architecture, Engineering & Construction companies will have to start thinking about the ways to incorporate these legislations into their daily workflows & projects to remain compliant sooner than later.
But where do you start? Join us at the Institution of Engineering & Technology (IET) on 20th October where we'll be joined by industry experts to provide some guidance on understanding the new fire safety measures and how you can begin to tackle them with the help of data & digital tech.

Richard challenges all those involved in the construction process to work smarter. Working as a Business Area Director for the Symetri Construction team, he aims to deliver world class technology solutions and services which increase the capability and capacity of all those involved in construction.
Having previously worked for Morgan Sindall, Steve has been in a multi-disciplined design and build environment for 24 years. He has a vast knowledge of the problems that can be encountered on projects of all sizes, and provides suitable solutions. Steve’s main expertise lies in the design, construction and management workflow of information and technology requirements to ensure a project meets the full requirements and data is reused through the delivery. Steve acts as the Project BIM manager and information manager for our clients and helps them de-risk and deliver the project to meet the full defined requirements.
Varun heads up the BIM team at Calfordseaden. He boasts over 10 years’ experience in the industry and has been at Calfordseaden since 2017. Throughout Varun’s academic and professional career, he has built a solid grounding in architecture, design, construction, and the implementation and use of BIM for design and construction projects. Varun is proactive in his approach to promoting BIM as an effective and efficient way of working in the industry from greater clarity and information management to a stronger understanding of the asset.
Varun strongly advocates new digitalised methods of working, to enable more digitalised areas of our industry, including an integration of AR and VR into BIM, more standardised delivery of information, and also an opportunity to bring greater value engineering to construction.

Lee has over 24 years of experience within the Design Management and Building Information Modelling sector. He looks after the people, process and technology for all of the digital construction aspects for Morgan Sindall. As part of his role, Lee sets out detailed research programmes to understand where clients are, in terms of stages, to help generate the digital information management (DigIM) strategy for the group.
As well as his work at Morgan Sindall Construction, Lee has a digital role with the National Association of Construction Frameworks (NACF), which is an organisation that helps shape the future of local government construction.
For Lee, his role is more about change management, it’s about adapting and identifying new ways to do better things, not just doing things better.
