Civil 3D Roundabout Design

The Civil 3D Roundabout Design course builds on your previous experience of highway design using Civil 3D, focusing on the skills required to design a roundabout manually using an industry-standard methodology. This advanced approach includes the creation of all the requisite components of a roundabout, including, tilted plane, alignments, profiles and corridors to produce an accurate and realistic roundabout.

• Basic skills review: prospector, 3D surfaces, object viewer, quick profiler, feature lines, grading 
• Create an existing surface profile, create profiles through multiple surfaces 
• Design alignments and profiles using IP and Element methods 
• Use design criteria files, design speeds, tangency checks 
• Create offset alignments, widening areas 
• Recap your skills for creating a basic subassembly 
• Creating Offset Assemblies Create profiles through multiple surfaces 
• Create regions, control frequencies, create surfaces from corridors 
• Use of corridor boundaries to control surfaces 
• Learn a step-by-step approach for creating a roundabout in Civil 3D, including: 
• Add / remove an approach, including descriptions 
• Set relationships between approaching lanes and departing lanes 
• Add / remove splinter islands, slip lanes, crosswalks and rumble strips 
• Check your roundabout for design errors 
• Use the Roundabout Wizard to speed your design work 
• Understand the possible limitations for the UK design of roundabouts 
• Create bespoke reports from Civil 3D
