Automotive Design Fundamentals

An Autodesk® accredited course providing delegates with the digital design skills needed for the modern studio. This industry-recognised course covers Alias CAS (Computer Aided Styling), an overview of Reverse Engineering (working from scan) followed by VRED fundamentals for visualisation and design review. Our aim is for users to become proficient in Alias technical surfacing fundamentals for concept design, appreciate the differences between CAS vs Class A, and to gain an understanding of how VRED can be used to create Realtime visualizations, animations, and presentation material. Through a series of projects and exercises, delegates will create a 3D "Sketch Model" from a 2d sketch(s) combining feature-function exercises in a workflow context project, refine the data using industry best practices and visualise the 3d asset(s). The projects afford students the freedom to explore

Benefits of Autodesk Powermill 5 Axis

Understand and create surfaces with an understanding of industry standards
Complete the course feeling comfortable in converting 2d data into accurate CAS model
Learn how to generate surfaces with Class A principles
Understand the fundamental capabilities of VRED for design review and appreciate

Expected outcome

After completing the course, you will be able to use the strategies and workflows necessary to build a model quickly using industry-standard techniques and translate a 2d sketch into a watertight surface model. Delegates will understand how to accurately convert sketches into surface data building models with industry best practices while maintaining design intent. Becoming proficient in “VRED Fundamentals” ensures delegates can generate real-time assets and HQI (High-Quality Image) renderings to support design review and presentation collateral for Design sign-off and product marketing.  Crucially delegates understand the demands and the language of the studio making it easier for them to collaborate or join a team of users and appreciate widely recognised methodology and practices.

Upon completion of the course, you can log in to your Autodesk student account and download a personal certificate
