Vintervoll – Delivering Digital Precision in Electrical Design

Vintervoll AS

Vintervoll has made a significant digital transformation by integrating Revit, Naviate Electrical, and Autodesk Forma into a unified BIM workflow for electrical engineering. By using advanced 3D modelling, automation, and real‑time collaboration between design teams and on‑site teams, the company has improved quality, reduced errors, and increased project predictability.

Vintervoll: Digital Precision and a New Standard for Electrical Engineering

Vintervoll is a modern electrical contractor with deep roots in Norwegian craftsmanship. With expertise spanning electrical installations, automation, low voltage systems, and security solutions, the company delivers complete projects from early phase design to installation and commissioning.

What truly defines Vintervoll is its culture: a commitment to quality, a belief in continuous improvement, and a drive to use technology to strengthen both people and processes. As projects grew in complexity, Vintervoll recognised that digitalisation wasn’t just an upgrade - it was a strategic necessity.

“Everyone wants to be part of something that functions well. When information flows better, people feel more confident and more motivated.”
Lars Esten Heggvik, Project Director, Vintervoll AS

Their Challenges

Before embarking on their digital transformation, Vintervoll faced several challenges common in today’s construction landscape:

  • Fragmented communication between design teams, project managers, and installers
  • Manual processes that slowed down drawing production and increased the risk of errors
  • Inconsistent documentation, especially when changes occurred late in the project
  • Limited visibility across disciplines, making coordination more difficult
  • A growing need for structured data to support future automation and AI-driven workflows

Vintervoll wanted a unified way of working - one that connected the office and the field, improved precision, and strengthened collaboration across the entire organisation.

How Symetri Guided Their Digital Transformation Journey

Symetri partnered closely with Vintervoll to build a modern, scalable digital ecosystem that would support both current needs and long-term ambitions. The first step was establishing Autodesk Revit as the core platform for electrical modelling. This gave Vintervoll a structured, data-rich environment for design work and set the stage for more advanced digital workflows.

To enhance efficiency further, Symetri introduced Naviate Electrical. This allowed Vintervoll to automate repetitive tasks, standardise symbols and documentation, and work with templates aligned to Norwegian standards. The result was a faster, more consistent design process with fewer manual corrections.

The transformation extended beyond design. Autodesk Forma (previously Autodesk Construction Cloud) became Vintervoll’s shared digital workspace - a single source of truth for models, drawings, and communication. With Forma, designers, project managers, installers, and apprentices could all access the same updated information in real time. This strengthened coordination, improved deviation handling, and created a more natural dialogue between the office and the field.

Symetri supported Vintervoll throughout the journey with training, advisory services, and ongoing guidance. This ensured that the tools were not just implemented, but fully integrated into Vintervoll’s culture and daily routines.

How Vintervoll Is Benefiting Today

The impact of the transformation has been felt across the entire organisation. Design work has become faster and more accurate thanks to automation and standardisation. Collaboration has improved dramatically, with Autodesk Forma enabling smoother communication and better coordination between disciplines. Documentation quality has risen, supported by structured data and reliable version control.

Perhaps most importantly, the digital shift has strengthened engagement. Installers and apprentices now have direct access to the information they need, which has increased ownership, motivation, and confidence in the work. Vintervoll has also gained a solid digital foundation that positions them well for future developments in automation and AI.

“Symetri has been a key strategic partner throughout Vintervoll’s digitalisation journey. Over several years, they have played an important role in our development and in our ability to live up to our motto, ‘Best & Most Pleasant,’ in everything we deliver to our partners.”
Halvard Sletvold, Group Leader RIE, Vintervoll AS

Looking Ahead: Vintervoll’s Next Chapter

Vintervoll’s digital journey is far from over. With a strong platform now in place, the company is exploring deeper automation of design tasks, more advanced use of structured data, and new opportunities for AIsupported workflows. They continue to refine their BIM standards and strengthen the connection between office and field.

The goal is clear: to deliver electrical projects with even greater precision, predictability, and efficiency - while empowering every employee with the tools and insight they need to succeed.
