Curtins and Symetri – Building a Partnership on Trust, Insight, and Innovation
Challenges
- Licence Visibility Across a Complex IT Landscape. With over 400 employees across 14 locations - Curtins faced a significant challenge: limited visibility into software usage - who was using what, and for how long.
- The Manual Deployment of over 450 Licenses across the organisation. While the team's processes were working well, the rollout was time-consuming and required extensive follow-up work.
- Differing Skills Levels and Standards Across the Business. With numerous sites there was a requirement for training that was both comprehensive and aligned with Curtins’ unique ways of working.
- Driving Efficiency Within Projects. Curtins was looking to reduce time spent on manual tasks within projects, allowing teams to focus on higher-value design work and improving overall efficiency.
- BIM Consistency and Embedded Expertise. Curtins faced a gap in BIM leadership when their BIM Manager - previously the go-to person for all BIM-related queries - left the business.
Solutions
- CQFlexMon, a licence monitoring tool, helped Curtins gain deeper visibility into software usage to make informed decisions to streamline their Autodesk and Bluebeam portfolio.
- CQi, a software deployment service, streamlined the process when rolling out their new named-user licences, reducing time and errors.
- KnowledgeSmart, a powerful skills assessment platform, offered deeper insight to evaluate whether employees were following “The Curtins Way.”
- By connecting with Pinnacle Series, an AEC e-Learning platform, KnowledgeSmart enabled the creation of personalised learning paths based on individual assessment results.
- Bespoke Civil’s 3D training. Symetri collaborated closely with Curtins to design a training programme tailored specifically to their workflows, tools, and technical needs.
- Naviate Road and Naviate Structure, automation plug-in tool, offers advanced automation features - streamlining routine processes and enabling faster, more efficient project delivery.
- With numerous offices across the UK, Curtins also needed robust cloud collaboration tools. BIM Collaborate Enterprise and Autodesk Build enabled seamless, secure teamwork and uninterrupted project delivery from any location.
- Symetri embedded a dedicated BIM Consultant within Curtins’ team. This role helped upskill staff, reinforce best practices, and ensure BIM standards were applied consistently across all projects.
Benefits
The Curtins - Symetri partnership is a clear example of collaboration built on trust, shared goals, and long-term value. What began with licence optimisation has evolved into a full digital transformation - streamlining operations, upskilling teams, and preparing Curtins for the future.
