What’s involved in Symetri’s BIM & Information Management Standard Method & Procedures authoring service?

Standard methods and procedures are required within all organisations to provide clear and concise guidance and instruction to employees. With the increasing adoption of BIM (Building Information Modelling) across the industry, this need extends to the whole project team and can include documentation such as, policies, competency assessments, contract inclusions and a requirement to ensure compliance with industry standards and specifications.

This service is a direct authoring service to provide BIM or Information Management documentation, with deliverables tailored specifically to the customer’s company type or project requirements.

For Employer organisations the documentation generated is typically focused on the Employer’s Organisation, Project and Asset Information requirements, supply chain capability assessments and contract inclusions.

For Tier 1 suppliers such a principal designers and contractors, BIM Execution Planning is typically the focus, with supporting documentation such as Master Information Delivery Tables, Clash Matrix’s, Risk Registers and Mobilisation Plans.

For Tier 2 suppliers and Task Teams the focus is typically focused on internal processes and standards, including capability responses for tenders and bids.

All documentation authored is based on industry good working practices, informed by industry standards including BS/PAS1192, IS0 19650 and ISO 55000 series as examples, and where applicable the documentation is enhanced further to provide additional clarity.

To start this service a Consultancy call is held to discuss the requirements and confirm scope. If documentation already exists and the requirement is to review, improve and update to the latest standards, the assigned Consultant will review these documents to establish what is required for the project.

On acceptance of the proposal, the Consultant will author the agreed documentation and facilitate regular progress and review meetings with the customer during the engagement.

Following an internal peer review and quality assurance checks, an online hand-over meeting to present back all documentation section by section to the customer will be arranged. This last activity is important because it ensures the customer is fully familiar with all the documentation provided.
